There’s less than one month to go until the deadline for professional HGV, bus and coach drivers to complete their Driver CPC training. The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency is now urging drivers to go online to check how much training they have completed and when they will receive their Driver CPC card. Drivers can also give their employers temporary access to training records. All drivers need to complete 35 hours of periodic training every five years – and the upcoming deadline is 9 September 2019. If any drivers miss the training deadline, they cannot continue to drive professionally and could be fined up to £1,000.
Following the UK’s withdrawal from the EU professional drivers of lorries and buses will still need a valid CPC to continue to operate in the UK. It is illegal for professional drivers to operate without a Driver Qualification Card (DQC).
You can check how much training you’ve done and when you’ll get your next Driver CPC card using the online driver enquiry service. You can also give your employer temporary access to your training record.
